In observance of the traditonal mouring period of Sefirat HaOmer [The Counting of the Omer], Radio-J will be alternating blocks of music and acapella recordings beginning at 9:00 PM US -Eastern Time on Saturday April 18, and concluding at 9:00 PM on Monday, May 4. This coincides with the period of mourning that is observed according to all minhagim [practices] 2 Iyar - Lag BaOmer, and recognizes that even among those who observe the mourning practices of Sefirat HaOmer, there are varying practices regarding listening to recorded music (as opposed to a live performance in person).

Acapella Blocks will not air on Yom HaAtzmaut [Israel Independence Day],beginning at 1PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, April 21 through 9:00 PM Eastern Time on Wednesday April 22. Acapella Blocks do not air on Fridays or Saturdays in honor of Shabbat.
